Existential Intensification of the Natural World from the Perspective of Allameh Tabataba'i and its Eschatological Implications

Abstract

In his philosophical discussions regarding movement, and within the intellectual framework of Mullā Sadrā's transcendent philosophy, Allameh Tabataba’i draws a new philosophical model of the system of the natural world, according to which the material world with all its parts and members constitutes a single dynamic reality that travels from mere potentiality to pure actuality. This view of how the material world evolves can serve as a basis for rereading some Islamic and Quranic concepts. Using library resources, philosophical reasoning and text analysis, this study aims to first introduce and explain Allameh Tabataba’i’s philosophical viewpoint on the resurrection, along with his exegetical views; in the second step, while comparing his philosophical and exegetical theories on the resurrection, we explain the implications of this philosophical reading in eschatology and the Great Resurrection. Providing a reasonable explanation for "the temporality of the Resurrection despite its being non time-bound," "the determinator for the time of the Resurrection," and "the identity of the individuals in the Resurrection with the individuals in the material world" are among the results of applying this philosophical theory in understanding the Quranic Resurrection.
