Abstract

Numerous researches on ethics have been proposed by thinkers. These researches fall into two general branches, which are normative ethics and non-normative ethics. In normative ethics, the first division in action-oriented moral theories is the division of moral theories into conscientiousness and consequentialism. Proponents of these two views each have their own reasons and bases, but one of the most important points and principles that are usually overlooked in choosing between these two views is to pay attention to their meta-ethical principles that can have a decisive influence on the choice of moral theory. What constitutes the main focus of the discussion in this article is the relevance of the ethical theory of consequentialism with one of the meta-ethical perspectives called moral realism. Based on this point, the present article seeks to show that the chosen approach in Islamic ethics, in its basic orientations in the field of meta-ethics, is a statement of moral realism, so it can be expected that the selected theory of Islamic ethics is one of two theories. The mentioned ethic (consequentialism or conscientiousness) is the approach of ethical consequentialism with a special reading of the result and the consequentialism that will be expressed throughout the article.
